Peoria Park District Classes

Thais teaches many different levels of Middle Eastern Dance classes. From beginners to a professional performing Dance Troupe - there is a spot for you to fit right in!

Beginners Raks Sharki - Middle Eastern Dance -
This is the class to start in if you have had no prior dance experience. In this class you will discover muscles you didn't know you had! Both technique and choreography is used through the class session. It builds a sense of space and awareness of how you move. Fundamental isolations are learned.

Intermediate Level I - Middle Eastern Dance -
This is a continuing class that picks up where beginners ends. You will build upon the basic fundamentals and explore more movement. Both technique and choreography is used through the class session. This level explores the use of patterns and combos. You need teacher approval for this level.

Intermediate Level I I - Middle Eastern Dance -
At this level you are reaching for layering of movement. The fundamentals should be mastered and the class builds upon combining movement. Refining your dancing and attaining a higher understanding of the music. At this level there is more technique and less choreography. This is the bridge class level before Advanced.
You need teacher approval for this level.

Advanced Level - Middle Eastern Dance -
This class deals into even more technique and less choreography. It expands upon the level before. You will acquire a greater sense of performing, grace, styling, and space. You need teacher approval for this level.

Parks Troupe Mirage -
Parks Troupe Mirage is a performing group of the Peoria Park District. This is the class where you will work on group choreography for public bookings. You will have the opportunity to "polish" as a dancer. Advance level technique and combos with unique layers are taught. Emphasis is on honing performance skills. Preparing the dancer for stage work. Open auditions are held annually for members of Parks Troupe Mirage.

Please be sure to come 10 minutes before your class. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes - no tennis shoes or tight jeans in class. As a courtesy to your class be sure to turn your cell phone OFF or place it on vibration if you are expecting an important call. NOTHING DISRUPTS A CLASS MORE THAN A RINGING PHONE !
